Sapsan trains in the depot Metallostroj

Roediger Vacuum supplied technical equipment for supply and disposal of high-speed trains to Russia

18.03.2010

The high-speed trains „Sapsan“ (meaning: Peregrine Falcon) delivered to Russia by Siemens AG are used to connect the 650 km long route between the two largest cities in Russia, the capital Moscow and St. Petersburg, reaching a speed of up to 250 km/h. Each train is 250 m long and can accommodate 604 passengers.

The German Company Prokonzept GmbH & Co KG in Berlin, assigned with the preparation of the operation- and maintenance concepts for the Russian State Railways, has placed in 2008 the order to the Company Roediger Vacuum GmbH / Hanau, for the installations of technical equipment for supply and disposal of high-speed trains.

The technical equipment for the supply and disposal of the trains consists essentially of the potable water treatment plants, the utility cabinets for the internal cleaning of trains, the supply and disposal stations for the drinking water filling and the toilet wastewater disposal of the trains.

The utility cabinets supply cold and hot water as well as detergent needed for the care and cleaning of the train interior. These cabinets are arranged on the working platforms in the depot hall in that way that they are situated directly in front of the wagons when the train stops. From there it is quite convenient to finish the interior cleaning of the trains as quick as possible without time loss due to long distances or not tangible tools. The occurring rinse water from the interior cleaning is discharged by the utility cabinets via vacuum evacuation units up to a vacuum compact station from where it is conveyed automatically to the wastewater sewer net.

The supply and disposal stations are placed directly in the hall next to the treatment tracks. In order to observe optimal hygienic conditions in the work to be undertaken, these stations are technically designed so that water filling with simultaneous toilet effluent disposal is virtually excluded. The use of vacuum hose pumps inside the supply- and waste disposal stations ensures rapid emptying sequences of the toilet waste containers on the trains. The filling of the tanks on the trains is done via hose drum systems – the tanks are supplied perfectly with fully potable water by the central potable water plant. .

The Roediger Vacuum GmbH Company is inter alia the market leader worldwide for the different systems of supply and disposal of rail vehicles. One of our priorities is the delivery of supply and disposal engineering facilities for the DB AG (German Railway). Thus, for example all ICE depots of the German Railway are equipped with a Roediger evacuation unit.

Another focus of our company is the supply of water processing technologies for the treatment of water – resulting from exterior washing and rinsing of the trains. Roediger Vacuum GmbH has considerably contributed to a process finding for the early ICE washing units. The use of highly efficient water recycling systems enables a water saving consumption and modern treatment processes ensure high quality of wastewater quantities.

According to this concept, Roediger plants operate in many depots of European Railway Companies. Also the former train washing plant in the depot Metallostroj / St. Petersburg had been fitted with a Roediger water technology unit.
